Should we forgive Michael Vick? Science says we'll be healthier if we do, but some argue there's room in a healthy life for a good grudge

Absolutely sickening

pxxtot

>> Vick paid his dues, so he's square as far as I'm concerned.

How noble of you to "square" him, considering you suffered not one second, shed not one drop of blood nor now suffer no lingering effects from his sadistic/psychopathic cruelties.

incog-nito

>>Just because in this decadent country of ours some people decide to elevate household pets to near human status, don't expect others to feel the same way.

In this decadent country, some people decide that no living, feeling breathing thing should be hung, shot, allowed to fight in a blood sport to the death for hours, be garotted etc...you know, suffer unspeakable cruelties the likes of which your pampered ass has never, EVER experienced. I suppose psychopaths like yourself think modern civilised countries should just laugh, and continue on with their lives. Bravo. You're on the same level of inhumaneness as Vick.

geekd1998

>> Look, I'm a dog owner. I love dogs...

Despite this bit of self affirmation (as if we're supposed to say....ahhh he/she gets it) you compare the torture, killing, baiting, fighting etc. of living, pain feeling things with another NFL player whose murderously poor decisions led to a woman dying in a drunk driving accident?? Is this really equal???

BettyBoop

>> Are you kidding me? We are talking about dogs here people.

So I suppose you also agree with incog-nito above. We should just shrug, then grab another beer in the face of this psycho's cruelties. That is...until he turns his sickness onto your child or relative...and then you'll be suing your state for failing to keep this man off the streets. Are YOU kidding me?

spoincey

>>and people are far more valuable than animals, and animals are not on the same moral level as people.

What an absolutely heartless, unthinking, clueless thing to say. In fact your entire post is an ode to ignorance. THey should have put you in the jail cell next to Vick. I suppose you consider Hitler to be on a good "moral" level? Just incredible.

If he has changed, and I bloody mean GENUINELY changed, then I see no reason not to let him back into football. I will turn the channel when he comes on, I won't buy a Vick shirt, etc. I watched the 60 minutes interview and I never once heard him speak of the dogs, and their suffering, and their lives. It was always about how he let his fans down, his parents, how he failed..blah, blah, blah. He is clearly a self centered asshole. And for those of you who say you're all "cool" with this now, shame on you. And for those of you who repeat the "they're just dogs" nonsense, you'll one day pay for your lack of compassion in another lifetime.

@ Pazure

People like you are idiots. You compare what Michael Vick did to a bunch of dogs to what Hitler did? You are a mental midget. I am the grandson of two people who wear tattoos on their arms because of Nazi genocide, you insufferable moron, and as an observant conservative Jew I am sick to death of your silly and nonsensical moral equivalency of animals to humans. There is no comparison, you lout. Why don't you move to Holland where those lunatics have passed a law allowing people to marry their pets. I don't give a shit if I had to torture a million dogs to death slowly and violently if it would save the life of even a single human being. I can only hope that people like you--you probably work for PETA, no doubt, which should stand for People Eating Tasty Animals--get themselves sterilized before you have any retarded children to continue to infect the human gene pool.

forgiving at it's hardest

Forgiving is certainly easier when a person has expressed remorse, and has tried to make amends. It is a much more difficult situation when the offender claims that what they have done isn't wrong, and hasn't suffered the kind of consequences that should be coming to them in a more just world. Try forgiving them then - it is significantly more difficult. Good health aside, it seems somehow wrong not to harbor ill will towards the wicked and unrepentant.

Vick made a mistake, a big mistake, repeatedly over a significant amount of time. None the less, he deserves to be given a chance to atone for it without having it constantly thrown in his face. He seems to be on that path, so let him do the work he needs to do. Judge him not by his past, but by his future acts.

In the grand scheme of things, many people do much worse and never apologize or seem to regret it. May they reap what they sow.

@spoincey

Is that true, in Holland you can marry your pets? I am really asking because I really didn't know that, and that is the craziest thing I've heard in a long damn time!

@spoincey

Spoken like a true intellectual. Answer me this...did you happen to vote for Bush, and do you have a picture of Cheney, still proudly hanging on your wall you fucking moron.

My point about bringing up Hitler is clear to all sane people...count yourself outside of that number, but just humour me here...if you had a choice, would you slowly kill 1 million dogs to save Hitlers life?

You're clearly unhinged.

@teresa

No, it's not true that one can marry pets in Holland. You see, spoincey is deranged, hears voices inside his head, and also hears things like Bill O'Reilly when he says

"And if you go to Holland, you'll go to all these other places, you'll see that. The courts there'll let anybody get married to anybody. You want to marry a duck? You can do it over there."

This is an actual quote.

You see, gullible people like spoincey hear this, and their fragile, oxygen starved brains actually believe it. In fact, read, then re-read all of his posts to get a sense of how much of a lunatic he really is.

Hey spoincey, by chance, are you related to Glenn Beck?
